My lunch breaks are better than yours

Rather than go to whataburger or perhaps taco bell for my lunch break, I had the pleasure of visiting the home of one Mr. Brian Davis to record a drum track for Daniel Pratt.

The song was one he wrote while picking at his guitar under an apple tree one day. He’s calling it “hark the herald angels sing”. I personally don’t think the name fits the song. One of the best things about tracking with B Davis is his line up of Pork Pie drums. Being a Pork Pie guy myself, I feel right at home using his kit.

I got there and really put some thought into recording a dynamic and heart felt drum part. Daniel, being the nice guy he is, let me play it my way…once. Then he instructed me to do my job. Sigh..

So I did it his way. We “drove a mac truck” through the track. Which comes pretty naturally to any drummer who plays rock music. In case you were wondering if the track has a tom groove.. You can bet your @ss it does!!

The song is intended to be released as a little diddy for our Woodlands Point family! All joking aside, I know it will turn out great. The rest of the tracks will be done this week by Mr. Zack Jones and the one and only JJ Cole and Red Tree Studios!

hope you enjoy it!
